GLASSBORO, NJ – The St. Joseph’s College (LI) men’s soccer team defeated Berkeley College, 1-0 in the consolation game of the Rowan Soccer Invitational on Saturday night.
St. Joseph’s improves to 1-1, while Berkeley has a 0-2 record. In the championship game on Saturday, Rhode Island College plays host Rowan University at 8 p.m. On Friday, Rowan beat St. Joseph’s, 5-1 and Rhode Island had a 4-1 win over Berkeley.
The Golden Eagles’ goal came at 6:24 in the first half. Back Julian Barreiros (jr. West Babylon, NY/West Babylon) sent a corner kick into the box and back Kamil Sadowski (sr. Lindenhurst, NY/Lindenhurst) headed it into the net. St. Joseph’s back Dylan Evans (so. Bohemia, NY/St. John the Baptist) and Sadowski and Berkeley midfielder Manuel Guzman (jr. Queens, NY/Martin Van Buren) were named to the All-Tournament Team.
Berkeley took nine shots, while St. Joseph’s had six. Golden Eagles’ goalkeeper Peter Ryan (so. Sayville, NY/Sayville) made four saves for the shutout. Goalkeeper Camilo Montes (fr. Bayside, NY/Bayside) stopped one shot for the Knights.
