Biehn and Lisa Receive All-Academic Honors from the USTFCCCA

METAIRIE, LA – Rowan University’s Sean Biehn and Mark Lisa were named to the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) 2010 Division III All-Academic Track and Field Team.

There were a total of 202 student-athletes selected from 74 institutions on this year’s team. To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Team, student-athletes must have a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.30 and have met the NCAA Division III Indoor or Outdoor automatic or provisional qualifying standard in their respective event.

Biehn (sr. Edgewater Park, NJ/Burlington City) graduated in May with a bachelor’s degree in music and a 3.563 GPA. Lisa (so. Highland Lakes, NJ/Vernon Twp.) is majoring in health and exercise science with a GPA of 3.358. This is the second straight USTFCCCA All-Academic honor for Biehn and the first for Lisa.

This season, Biehn finished second in the javelin with a throw of 204’ 5” (62.31 meters) at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships for his second straight All-America honor. He won the javelin at the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Championships with a conference meet record of 214’ 6” (65.38 meters) and received All-Conference first team honors. His throw was better than the NCAA automatic of 205’ 1” (62.50 meters). He was chosen the NJAC Outstanding Male Field Athlete of the Year. In addition, Biehn also won the javelin at the Penn Invitational, Lions’ Invitational, Princeton Elite Meet and Lions’ Last Chance Meet.

Biehn was a member of the 2010 Philadelphia Inquirer Men’s Track and Field Academic All-Area Team and the CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District II second team. He received NJAC All-Academic honorable mention and was a Rowan Scholar-Athlete.

Lisa earned NJAC All-Conference first team honors with a first place in the long jump at the conference championships. He had a winning leap of 23’ (7.01 meters) which was a NCAA provisional (22’ 11.75”, 7.00 meters). At the Princeton Elite Meet, Lisa took second place with a season best and NCAA provisional of 23’ 0.75” (7.03 meters). He also finished second (20’ 11.75”, 6.39 meters) at the Towson Invitational and third (22’ 7.75”, 6.90 meters) at the Penn Invitational. Lisa was a NJAC All-Academic honorable mention selection and a Rowan Scholar-Athlete.
