CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Men's Track and Field/Cross Country Teams
GLASSBORO, NJ – Rowan University student-athlete Sean Biehn was selected to the 2009-10 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA)/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District II Men’s Track and Field/Cross Country second team.
To be nominated for the Academic All-America program, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore with a 3.3 or higher cumulative grade point average (GPA) and a starter or significant reserve. The District II College Division consists of all non-NCAA Division I colleges and universities in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware, West Virginia and the District of Columbia.
Biehn (sr. Edgewater Park, NJ/Burlington City) earned his second straight All-America honor in the javelin at the 2010 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships (May 27). He took second place overall with a throw of 204’ 5” (62.31 meters). At the 2009 national championships, he finished fourth (200’ 1”, 60.98 meters). Biehn is majoring in music education with a 3.512 GPA.
This year, Biehn won the javelin at the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Championships. He threw 214’ 6” (65.38 meters) which was a conference meet record and a NCAA automatic. Biehn also had first places at the Penn Invitational (197’ 8”, 60.24 meters), the Lions’ Invitational (197’ 3”, 60.12 meters), the Princeton Elite Meet (204’ 1”, 62.20 meters) and the Lions’ Last Chance Meet (203’ 10”, 62.14 meters). He captured third place at the Rowan Open (199’ 7”, 60.84 meters). The NCAA automatic is 205’ 1” (62.50 meters) for the javelin while the provisional stands at 189’ 7” (57.80 meters).
Biehn received 2010 NJAC All-Conference first team honors and he was named the Outstanding Male Field Athlete at the conference championships. He was tabbed the NJAC Field Athlete of the Week five times. Biehn earned NJAC All-Academic honorable mention and was a Rowan Scholar-Athlete. In 2009, he was chosen to the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Division III All-Academic Track and Field Team.
