Chamberlain Competes in 400 Meter Hurdles at NCAA Division III Championships

BEREA, OH – Tiffany Chamberlain competed in the 400 meter hurdles at the NCAA Division III Championships on Thursday. The national championships are being held at Baldwin-Wallace College on Thursday-Saturday, May 27-29.   

In the women's 400 meter hurdles preliminaries, Chamberlain (fr. Burlington, NJ/Burlington Twp.) did not finish. 

Sean Biehn (sr. Edgewater Park, NJ/Burlington City) recorded a throw of 204’ 5” (62.31 meters) in the finals of the men's javelin for second place. Sean Corey (sr. Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill E.) had a distance of 204’ 1” (62.20 meters) to capture third. The top eight finishers earn All-America honors. This was Biehn’s second straight year All-America honor, after taking fourth (200’ 1”, 60.98 meters) at the 2009 NCAA Championships. Matt Tholis (so. Montgomery, NJ/Montgomery) came in 13th place with a toss of 181’ (55.17 meters) in the preliminaries. Brock Solveson of Concordia University (WI) won the javelin with 219’ 9” (66.99 meters). 

Biehn qualified for nationals with a throw of 214’ 6” (65.38 meters) while Corey had a toss of 215’ 3” (65.61 meters). Tholis registered a qualifier of 203’ 2” (61.93 meters). Among the 16 national competitors, Corey was third overall heading in the competition followed by Biehn fourth and Tholis was 10th. The NCAA automatic is 205’ 1” (62.50 meters) for the javelin while the provisional stands at 189’ 7” (57.80 meters).

This season, Biehn earned 2010 New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) All-Conference first team honors and he was named the Outstanding Male Field Athlete at the conference championships. He was tabbed the NJAC Field Athlete of the Week four times. Corey’s second place finish at the conference championships earned him a spot on the NJAC All-Conference second team. During the season, he was named the NJAC Field Athlete of the Week one time. Tholis earned NJAC All-Conference honorable mention.

On Friday, Jena Peacock (so. Williamstown, NJ/Our Lady of Mercy Academy) runs in the 3000 meter steeplechase at 5:45 p.m. Jenn Rawls (fr. Runnemede, NJ/Highland Reg.) will participate in the 5000 meters on Saturday at 3:55 p.m.
