Five Women's Lacrosse Players Selected to the All-Region Teams

GLASSBORO, NJ – Five Rowan University women’s lacrosse players were selected to the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Boardwalk All-Region Teams.

Midfielders Alli Dickey (jr. Stevensville, MD/Kent Island) and Nicole Valianti (jr. Oaklyn, NJ/Collingswood) were named to the All-Region first team. The second team included attack Alayna Morris (sr. Columbus, NJ/Northern Burlington Reg.), midfielder Trish Harrington (jr. Mahwah, NJ/Suffern (NY)) and defender Kaitlyn Molzon (sr. Howell, NJ/St. Rose). It was the second straight All-Region second team selection for Molzon.

The IWLCA honored 224 Division III student-athletes on this year’s All-Region teams. The All-Region selections are eligible for the IWLCA/US Lacrosse All-America teams that will be announced on Tuesday, May 25. The national All-Americans will be honored at a banquet on Saturday, June 12 at the Crowne Plaza Valley Forge in King of Prussia, PA.

This season, Dickey was tied for first in scoring on the team with 42 points. She compiled 30 goals and 12 assists. She was also first in ground balls (41) and second in draw controls (46). Dickey contributed with 17 caused turnovers. Valianti chipped in with 32 points, 20 goals and 12 assists. She collected 30 ground balls and 24 draw controls. Both Dickey and Valianti were chosen to the 2010 New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) All-Conference first team. Valianti was honored as the conference’s Defensive Player of the Year.

Morris was fourth in scoring with 29 goals and five assists for 34 points. She led the Profs in draw controls with 54. Morris collected 32 ground balls and caused 16 turnovers. Harrington totaled 25 points with 16 goals and nine assists. She registered 32 ground balls, 19 draw controls and 19 caused turnovers. Morris and Harrington were NJAC All-Conference first team selections. A captain, Molzon totaled 26 ground balls and 15 caused turnovers. She received All-Conference honorable mention.

Rowan ended the year with an 11-6 record and won the conference title with a 5-0 mark. The Profs made their eighth appearance and third straight in the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament.
