EWING, NJ – The Rowan University track and field teams had 11 individuals that competed at the Lions’ Last Chance Meet on Thursday. The meet was held at The College of New Jersey.
Sean Biehn (sr. Edgewater Park, NJ/Burlington City) was the winner in the javelin with a throw of 203’ 10” (62.14 meters). His distance was better than the NCAA provisional (189’ 7”, 57.80 meters). This season, Biehn recorded a NCAA automatic with 214’ 6” (65.38 meters) at the New Jersey Athletic Conference Championships (May 8). The national automatic for the javelin is 205’ 1” (62.50 meters).
Mark Lisa (so. Highland Lakes, NJ/Vernon Twp.) finished second in the long jump. He had a leap of 22’ 7.25” (6.89 meters). Kevin Gauntt (sr. Marlton, NJ/Seneca) took fourth place (14.95) in the 110 meter hurdles and he was sixth (58.31) in the 400 meter hurdles.
Eric DuBois (so. Pittsgrove, NJ/A.P. Schalick) came in seventh (15:29.21) in the 5000 meters while Mike Carotenuto (fr. Port Monmouth, NJ/Middletown N.) was 12th (4:01.88) in the 1500 meters. Taylor Purdue (fr. Highland Lakes, NJ/Vernon Twp.) finished 14th (50.79) and 17th (23.56) in the 400 and 200 meters respectively.
For the women, Jena Peacock (so. Williamstown, NJ/Our Lady of Mercy Academy) took second place (11:00.51) in the 3000 meter steeplechase. In the 400 meter hurdles, Tiffany Chamberlain (fr. Burlington, NJ/Burlington Twp.) was fourth (1:02.47) followed by Jacqui Nisbett (jr. Woodbury, NJ/Woodbury) sixth (1:03.85). Both Chamberlain and Nisbett had times that were better than the NCAA provisional of 64.20. Chamberlain broke the school record of 1:02.75 held by Laiton Roberts (1993). Prior, Chamberlain had a national provisional of 63.40 at the Pennsylvania Invitational (Apr. 3).
The 4x400 meter relay had a fifth place finish with a time of 3:58.64. The relay included Chamberlain, Nisbett, Amirah Muneer (so. Ewing, NJ/Ewing) and Beverlee Brownlee (fr. Willingboro, NJ/Willingboro).
