NORTHAMPTON, MA – The Rowan University men’s and women’s indoor track teams finished their final day of competition at the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championships on Saturday. The two-day meet was held at Smith College.

Kyle Hayes (jr. Pt. Pleasant, NJ/Pt, Pleasant Boro) won the long jump with 23’ 5.25” (7.14 meters) which was a NCAA provisional. His jump was better than the provisional (23’ 1.75”, 7.05 meters) he had at the beginning of the season at the NYC Gotham Cup. Hayes is currently tied for seventh in the national performance list for the NCAA Division III Championships.

Jenn Rawls (fr. Runnemede, NJ/Highland Reg.) took second place in the one mile (4:56.79) while Jena Peacock (so. Williamstown, NJ/Our Lady of Mercy Academy) came in fourth (5:02.06). Both Rawls and Peacock recorded NCAA provisional times (5:05.00) that were better than the ones they ran at the New Jersey Athletic Conference Championships. Rawls broke the school record (5:00.50) that she set earlier in the season.

Eric DuBois (so. Pittsgrove, NJ/A.P. Schalick) had a fourth place finish in the 3000 meters (8:43.57). Kevin Gauntt (sr. Marlton, NJ/Seneca) was eighth in the 55 meter hurdles final (8.12).

The women’s 4x800 meter relay came in second with a time of 9:35.91. The relay consisted of Raneeka Doharty (so. Orange, NJ/Orange), Rawls, Christina Huynh (fr. Lake Hiawatha, NJ/Parsippany) and Peacock. The time topped the school record of 9:33.31 that was set earlier this season. The 4x400 meter relay was eighth (4:06.79) with Tiffany Chamberlain (fr. Burlington, NJ/Burlington Twp.), Amirah Muneer (so. Ewing, NJ/Ewing), Beverlee Brownlee (fr. Willingboro, NJ/Willingboro) and Jacqui Nisbett (jr. Woodbury, NJ/Woodbury). The time surpassed the previous school mark (4:08.68) set this year.

The Rowan women had 15 team members that competed at the ECAC Championships and the men brought eight. In the team scoring, the women took sixth place out of 43 schools and the men finished 16th among 49 institutions. The athletes that have qualified for the NCAA Division III Championships will be announced on Monday, March 8.
