Rowan Women Take Second Place and The Men Are Fourth At The Thomson Invitational

NEWARK, DE – The Rowan University women’s indoor track team took second place and the men were fourth at the Thomson Invitational on Saturday. The invitational was held at the University of Delaware.

The Prof women won five individual events and finished first in the 4x800 meter relay. Heidi DeGuzman (so. Central Islip, NJ/Pennsauken) ran a winning time of 8.03 in the 60 meters. Amirah Muneer (so. Ewing, NJ/Ewing) came in first in the 500 meters (1:23.00). Rachel Byrne (fr. Shamong, NJ/Holy Cross) had a first place in the 1000 meters (3:06.92). Eileen O’Mara (so. Haddonfield, NJ/Haddon Twp.) took first in the one mile (5:30.86) and Ashley White (fr. West Deptford, NJ/West Deptford) was the winner in the 5000 meters (18:57.69). The 4x800 meter relay (10:19.74) included O’Mara, Alivia Royds (fr. Mt. Laurel, NJ/Lenape), Lisa Jones (sr. Mays Landing, NJ/Oakcrest) and Jenn Rawls (fr. Runnemede, NJ/Highland Reg.).

For the men, Eric DuBois (so. Pittsgrove, NJ/A.P. Schalick) won the one mile (4:29.44) and the 3000 meters (9:04.16). Stephen Mennitt (fr. Edison, NJ/Edison) was second in the 3000 meters (9:05.03). The men’s 4x800 meter relay with Tom Austin (so. Manuta, NJ/West Deptford), Dan Collier (sr. Cinnaminson, NJ/Cinnaminson), Nick Huddy (jr. Egg Harbor Twp., NJ/Egg Harbor Twp.,) and Matt Crosta (so. Toms River, NJ/Monsignor Donovan) took third place (8:35.54).

The women’s 4x400 meter relay was third (4:20.07) with the team of Christina Huynh (fr. Lake Hiawatha, NJ/Parsippany), Muneer, Byrne and Beverlee Brownlee (fr. Willingboro, NJ/Willingboro). In the 800 meters, Royds finished second (2:29.23) followed by Huynh (2:30.39). Hanke was second in the 5000 meters (20:08.33) and Liz Guarini (jr. Steinertville, NJ/Steinert) was third (20:21.14). Rose Johnson (so. Willingboro, NJ/Holy Cross) had a third place (9.79) in the 60 meter hurdles. Rawls came in third in the 1000 meters (3:07.79). Muneer took fourth in the 200 meters (27.08) while Raneeka Doharty (so. Orange, NJ/Orange) was fourth in the one mile (5:48.30).

Kevin Gauntt (sr. Marlton, NJ/Seneca) finished third in the 60 meter hurdles (8.57). Jake McCormick (so. Cliffwood, NJ/Matawan Reg.) took third in the 5000 meters (15:49.37). Joseph Carmichael (fr. Pennsauken, NJ/Pennsauken) finished fourth in the shot put with 45’ 7” (13.89 meters). Kyle Hayes (jr. Pt. Pleasant, NJ/Pt. Pleasant Boro) was fifth in the long jump (21’ 9.5”, 6.64 meters). The 4x400 meter relay had a fifth place (3:39.08) with Josh McGriff (fr. Flemington, NJ/Hunterdon Central Reg.), Jayce Maxwell (so. Toms River, NJ/Monsignor Donovan), Benjamin Bradley (jr. Morris Plains, NJ/Parsippany Hills) and Ja’Ron Morgan (so. Burlington, NJ/Rancocas Valley Reg.).

Next week, Rowan travels to Ursinus College on Saturday, February 6 for the Frank Colden Invitational that starts at 9 a.m.
