Wilson to Receive ECAC Softball Coach of the Year Award
GLASSBORO, NJ – Rowan University’s Kim Wilson has been selected as the recipient of the Division III Metro Softball Combat Sports/Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Coach of the Year award. Wilson will receive the award on Tuesday, October 6 at the ECAC Honors Lunch at the 2009 Fall Convention and Trade Show in Hyannis, MA.
Wilson is starting her 14th season as softball coach at the University. She has compiled a won-loss record of 408-105 for a .731 percentage. Last year, Wilson earned her 400th career victory at Rowan when the softball team swept Swarthmore College, 8-0 (five innings) and 8-0 (six innings) (Apr. 22). Her career record stands at 472-207 (16 seasons).
She has guided Rowan to three New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Championships and eight NCAA Division III Championship Tournament appearances. The Profs have advanced to the conference tournament 11 times under Wilson and captured the NJAC title in 2002, 2001 and 1998. The softball team played in the NCAA Regional in 2009, 2008, 2006, 2002, 2001, 1999, 1998 and 1997. In 1999, Rowan won the Seed Four Regional and went to the NCAA Championship.
Wilson is a member of the NFCA and serves as the chair of the national All-America committee. She coordinates the selections from the eight regions. Wilson graduated from Slippery Rock University (PA) in 1989 with a bachelor’s degree in physical education. At Slippery Rock, she played volleyball and softball.
