IMMACULATA, PA – The Rowan University volleyball team won its season opener at Immaculata University, 3-0 on Thursday night. The set scores were 25-14, 25-4 and 25-16.
Outside hitter Katie Havlicek (fr. Midland Park, NJ/Immaculate Heart Academy) led the Profs with 12 kills and middle blocker Megan Mondelli (fr. Wayne, NJ/Wayne Valley) followed with eight. Middle blocker Chelsea Bowman (sr. Penns Grove, NJ/Park Bible Academy) posted seven kills, three blocks and two aces.
Libero Casey Roselle (jr. Sparta, NJ/Sparta) compiled 17 digs. Setter Chrissy McKay (sr. Paramus, NJ/Paramus) contributed with 29 assists. Defensive specialist Sarah Betancourt (so. Harrington Park, NJ/Northern Valley Old Tappan) recorded four service aces.
For the Mighty Macs, outside hitter Nicole Preziuso (so. Linwood, PA/Chichester) totaled seven kills and middle hitter Jayme Lenosky (sr. Reading, PA/Holy Name) added 15. Setter Kathleen Haefner (so. Lancaster, PA/Manheim Twp.) totaled 13 assists. It was the first match for Immaculata on the year.
On Saturday, September 5, Rowan hosts a match with Bryn Mawr College, Purchase College and Kean University. Rowan will play Bryn Mawr at 9 a.m. and Purchase at 1 p.m. In between, Bryn Mawr and Purchase meet at 11 a.m. Kean University has matches against Bryn Mawr at 3 p.m. and Purchase at 5 p.m.
