BRONX, NY – The Rowan University men’s and women’s cross country teams ran at the Fordham Fiasco on Saturday which was held at Van Cortlandt Park. The women took fifth place out of 18 teams that included Division I, II and III. The men finished ninth overall among 16 schools.
For the women, Jenn Rawls (fr. Runnemede, NJ/Highland Reg.) came in eighth overall in 18:38.91. She was the first runner from Division III to cross the finish line. The women’s course was 5K. Jena Peacock (so. Williamstown, NJ/Our Lady of Mercy Academy) was 10th in 18:43.81. Joy Hanke (fr. Cranford, NJ/Cranford) finished 53rd (20:18.17). Eileen O’Mara (so. Haddonfield, NJ/Haddon Twp.) and Lisa Jones (sr. Mays Landing, NJ/Oakcrest) were 61st (20:30.83) and 63rd (20:34.76) respectively.
Stephen Mennitt (fr. Edison, NJ/Edison) was the men’s top finisher. He was 26th with a time of 28:08.85 over the 8K course. Jake McCormack (so. Cliffwood, NJ/Matawan Reg.) took 40th (28:21.31). Brian Quilty (jr. Brick, NJ/St. Rose) and Jeff Terebey (jr. Shamong, NJ/Seneca) were 71st (29:10.56) and 79th (29:19.18) respectively. Mike Carotenuto (fr. Port Monmouth, NJ/Middletown N.) took 95th place (29:59.25).
The Rowan women’s cross country team will compete at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational on Saturday, September 19 while the men run at the University of Delaware Invitational.
