Three Profs Earn IWLCA Boardwalk All-Region Honors

GLASSBORO, NJ – Three Rowan University women’s lacrosse players were selected to the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Boardwalk All-Region Teams.

Midfielder Carly Welsh (sr. Allenwood, NJ/Wall) was selected to the All-Region first team. Midfielder Kelly Angstadt (sr. Sewell, NJ/Washington Twp.) and defender Kaitlyn Molzon (jr. Howell, NJ/Saint Rose) both collected second team honors. Angstadt was also chosen to play in the IWLCA/Under Armour North-South Senior All-Star Game.

A team captain, Welsh totaled 44 points with a team-high 32 goals and 12 assists. She tallied 30 ground balls, 22 draw controls and 10 caused turnovers. Welsh was tied for second in the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) in game-winning goals (four). She was tied for ninth in goals (2.0), 10th in assists (0.69), 11th in points (2.69), tied for 12th in ground balls (1.88) and 19th in draw controls (1.31). She was named to the 2009 NJAC All-Conference first team.

Also a captain, Angstadt led the Profs with 47 points (30 goals, 17 assists), 54 draw controls and 35 ground balls. She was also tied for first on the team with 23 caused turnovers. In the conference, Angstadt ranked fourth in draw controls (3.19), fifth in caused turnovers (1.31) and sixth in assists (1.0). She was ninth in points (2.81), 11th in ground balls (1.94) and 12th in goals (1.81). Angstadt was a NJAC All-Conference first team selection.

Molzon posted 18 ground balls and 15 caused turnovers. In the NJAC, she ranked 19th in caused turnovers (0.8). Molzon received NJAC All-Conference first team honors.
