GLASSBORO, NJ – Rowan University men’s track and field athlete Ben Bradley and women’s lacrosse player Brittany Petrella were selected to attend the NCAA National Student-Athlete Development Conference, May 24-27 at the Walt Disney World Coronado Springs Resort in Orlando, Florida.

There are 700 student-athletes who compete in fall, winter and spring sports at Division I, II and III schools participating in the 2009 conference. Candidates that were chosen must be in good academic standing, demonstrate an ability and strong desire to lead and have athletic eligibility for the following academic year.

He finished 12th in the 500 meters (1:13.16) at the Lehigh Covert Classic during the 2009 indoor season. Bradley was also on the ninth place 4x400 meter relay (3:38.89). At the New York City Gotham Cup, he ran the final leg of the 4x400 meter relay that took 17th in 3:29.82. During the 2009 outdoor season, Bradley had Rowan’s top time in the 400 meter hurdles (56.59). He posted the team’s third best times in the 100 (11.72) and 400 meters (52.63) and 110 meter hurdles (16.05). Bradley ran the second leg on the Profs’ top 4x400 meter relay that recorded a time of 3:25.64. He is the social chair on the University’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC). A Rowan Scholar-Athlete, Bradley is a business and history major.

A defender, Petrella (so. Perrineville, NJ/Allentown) saw action in six games this season, collecting four ground balls and causing two turnovers. In April, she was chosen to serve a three-year team on the NCAA Division III SAAC. Petrella is a co-chair on the University’s SAAC. She is a Rowan Scholar-Athlete. Petrella is majoring in public relations.

Formerly known as the NCAA National Leadership Conference, the event’s mission is to provide a diverse group of student-athletes from all NCAA member institutions the opportunity to become better leaders, motivators and communicators on campus and throughout their communities. Through an array of activities and discussions, student-athletes improve their communication, decision-making, critical-thinking and collaborative skills.

The National Student-Athlete Development Conference was founded in 1996 by the NCAA Foundation in conjunction with the CHAMPS/Life Skills Program.
