NEW YORK, NY – The Rowan University men’s outdoor track and field team had six individuals that competed at the NYC Qualifying Challenge on Saturday night. The meet was held at ICAHN Stadium at Randall’s Island Park.
Sean Biehn (jr. Edgewater Park, NJ/Burlington City) won the javelin in the college division and he finished second overall. Biehn recorded a NCAA provisional with a toss of 204’ 6” (62.34 meters). He has the fifth best throw in Division III this season. Biehn just missed the NCAA automatic which is 205’ 1” (62.50 meters). The NCAA provisional is 188’ 8” (57.50 meters).
Matt Tholis (fr. Montgomery, NJ/Montgomery) came in second in the javelin college division with 193’ 10” ( 59.08 meters) and Sean Corey (jr. Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill E.) finished third with 187’ 2” (57.04 meters). Antonio Tronco (sr. Absecon, NJ/Holy Spirit) was 10th in the javlin with 147’ 2” (44.85 meters). Kyle Hayes (so. Pt. Pleasant, NJ/Pt. Pleasant Boro) took second place in the long jump college division with 23’ 4.75” (7.13 meters) which was a NCAA provisional (22’ 11.75”, 7.00 meters).
In the 1500 meters, Mike Rivera (sr. Old Tappan, NJ/Northern Valley Old Tappan) was 18th overall with a time of 4:02.98 and Greg Kuczynski (sr. Sayreville, NJ/Sayreville War Mem.) finished 32nd in 4:09.54.
Rowan will have individuals competing at the Swarthmore College Last Chance Meet on Monday, May 11 at 5 p.m.
