PHILADELPHIA, PA – The Rowan University men’s and women’s track and field teams traveled to the Penn Invitational on Saturday.
Kyle Hayes (so. Pt. Pleasant, NJ/Pt. Pleasant Boro) took second place in the long jump with 23’ 7.5” (7.20 meters). Mark Lisa (fr. Highland Lakes, NJ/Vernon Twp.) came in fifth with a leap of 22’ 5.25” (6.84 meters). Mike Rivera (sr. Old Tappan, NJ/Northern Valley Old Tappan) was sixth in the 5000 meters with a time of 15:20.04.
In the javelin, Sean Biehn (jr. Edgewater Park, NJ/Burlington City) finished third with 181’ 2” (55.21 meters). Matt Tholis (fr. Montgomery, NJ/Montgomery) took sixth place with 175’ 2” (53.40 meters) and Anthony Ruggeri (jr. Berlin, NJ/Eastern Reg.) was 11th with 166’ 4” (50.70 meters). Jason Yanchuck (jr. Somerset, NJ/Franklin) had an eighth place in the shot put with a toss of 46’ 2.5” (14.08 meters).
Kevin Gauntt (jr. Marlton, NJ/Seneca) came in sixth in the 110 meter hurdles in 15.11. Steve Hague (so. Vineland, NJ/Buena Reg.) took 12th in the discus with 132’6” (40.40 meters). The men’s 4x100 meter relay finished eighth with a time of 43.48. The relay members were Hayes, Gauntt, Brian Thomas (fr. Mt. Laurel, NJ/Lenape) and Devon Hausmann (fr. Folsom, NJ/St. Joseph (Hammonton)).
Lisa Jones (jr. Mays Landing, NJ/Oakcrest) was fifth in the 3000 meter steeplechase (12:01.14). The women’s 4x800 meter relay took fourth place with a time of 10:13.67 and the 4x100 meter relay finished seventh (49.68). The 4x800 meter relay included Eileen O’Mara (fr. Haddonfield, NJ/Haddon Twp.), Jena Peacock (fr. Williamstown, NJ/Our Lady of Mercy Academy), Alli Catenacci (so. Mullica Hill, NJ/Kingsway Reg.) and Amira Abdullah (fr. Erial, NJ/Timber Creek). Heidi DeGuzman (fr. Central Islip, NY/Pennsauken), Tamara Jones (so. Camden, NJ/Woodrow Wilson), Amirah Muneer (fr. Ewing, NJ/Ewing) and Dannielle Warren (sr. Woodbury, NJ/Woodbury) made up the 4x100 meter relay.
Laura Idell (fr. Waterford, NJ/St. Joseph) came in seventh in the javelin with 112’ 1” (34.17 meters). Angela Patane (sr. Monroeville, NJ/Delsea Reg.) finished 15th in the 5000 meters (19:35.29). DeGuzman was 17th in the 100 meters (12.69).
The men’s and women’s outdoor track and field teams will host the Rowan Open on Friday, April 10 at 3 p.m.
