POMONA, NJ – The Rowan University men’s track and field team took second place and the women finished third at the Collegiate Track Conference (CTC) Championships on Sunday. The two-day championships were held at Richard Stockton College.

Amirah Muneer (fr. Ewing, NJ/Ewing) won the women’s 400 meters in 1:00.89. Muneer also had a fifth place in the 200 meters (27.06). Mark Lisa (fr. Highland Lakes, NJ/Vernon Twp.) was the winner in the long jump with 7.03 meters. His jump was a NCAA provisional (7.0 meters).

The women’s 4x800 meter relay ran a winning time of 10:09.88. The relay consisted of Alli Catenacci (so. Mullica Hill, NJ/Kingsway Reg.), Lisa Jones (jr. Mays Landing, NJ/Oakcrest), Eileen O’Mara (fr. Haddonfield, NJ/Haddon Twp.) and Danielle Czohla (fr. Lafayette, NJ/High Point Reg.). Jones was second in the 3000 meter steeplechase (11:53.52) and Czohla followed in fourth place (12:20.48). Heidi DeGuzman (fr. Central Islip, NY/Pennsauken) came in fourth in the 100 meters (12.97).

Jena Peacock (fr. Williamstown, NJ/Our Lady of Mercy Academy) finished fifth in the 1500 meters (4:59.10). Rosalee Johnson (fr. Willingboro, NJ/Holy Cross) had a fifth place in the 100 meter hurdles (16.68). Johnson also tied for fourth in the high jump (1.50 meters) and she was seventh in the 400 meter hurdles (1:15.09).

The women’s 4x400 meter relay was seventh in 4:19.27. The relay included DeGuzman, Muneer, Colette Lortz (fr. Sussex, NJ/Vernon Twp.) and Jones. The 4x100 meter relay with DeGuzman, Muneer, Lortz and Lori Oglesby (fr. Williamstown, NJ/Buena Reg.) finished eighth (53.17).

Kevin Gauntt (jr. Marlton, NJ/Seneca) came in second in the 110 meter hurdles (15.11). Kyle Hayes (so. Pt. Pleasant, NJ/Pt. Pleasant Boro) finished second in the long jump (6.91 meters). Brian Makinson (so. Cinnaminson, NJ/Cinnaminson) tied for second in the high jump (1.83 meters). In the 1500 meters, Mike Rivera (sr. Old Tappan, NJ/Northern Valley Old Tappan) and Greg Kuczynski (sr. Sayreville, NJ/Sayreville War Mem.) were third (4:12.57) and fourth (4:13.60) respectively. Ben Bradley (so. Parsippany, NJ/Parsippany Hills) took fourth place in the 400 meter hurdles (59.76). Jason Yanchuck (jr. Somerset, NJ/Franklin) came in fourth in the shot put (13.84 meters).

The men’s 4x100 meter relay took second in 44.16 with the team of Hayes, Brian Thomas (fr. Mt. Laurel, NJ/Lenape), Nehemiah Burney-Porter (jr. Scotch Plains, NJ/Scotch Plains-Fanwood) and Jayce Maxwell (fr. Toms River, NJ/Monsignor Donovan). The 4x800 meter relay had a third place (8:29.81) and the 4x400 meter relay was sixth (3:31.23). The 4x800 relay members were Rivera, John Kuti (jr. Yardville, NJ/Hamilton W.), Kuczynski and Eric DuBois (fr. Pittsgrove, NJ/A.P. Schalick). Makinson, Maxwell, Dan Collier (jr. Cinnaminson, NJ/Cinnaminson) and Bradley made up the 4x400 meter relay.

On Saturday, Angela Patane (sr. Monroeville, NJ/Delsea Reg.) took second in the 10000 meters (40:50.15). Rachel Pantaleo (fr. Glenwood, NJ/Vernon Twp.) came in third in the javelin with a toss of 35.84 meters and Laura Idell (fr. Waterford, NJ/St. Joseph) was fifth (33.78 meters). Laura O’Mara (jr. Haddonfield, NJ/Haddon Twp.) had a fifth place in the 10000 meters (44:00.13).

In the men’s javelin, Sean Biehn (jr. Edgewater Park, NJ/Burlington City) and Sean Corey (jr. Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill E.) finished second (57.20 meters) and third (57.13 meters) respectively while Matt Tholis (fr. Montgomery, NJ/Montgomery) was fifth (56.42). Dan Ratty (sr. Tenafly, NJ/Tenafly) took fourth in the 10000 meters (34:12.87). Burney Porter had a fourth place in the triple jump (13.19 meters).

This week, Rowan will have individuals competing at the Penn Relays. The women’s competition is on Thursday, April 23 and the men’s events are on Friday, April 24. Both teams will travel to The College on New Jersey on Saturday, April 25 for the Lions’ Invitational that starts at 9 a.m.
