GLASSBORO, NJ – The Rowan University men’s and women’s track and field teams hosted the Rowan Open on Friday afternoon. The meet was an individual competition.

Sean Biehn (jr. Edgewater Park, NJ/Burlington City) captured first place in the javelin. His toss of 194’ 1” (59.16 meters) was better than the NCAA provisional of 188’ 8” (57.50 meters). Kevin Gauntt (jr. Marlton, NJ/Seneca) won the 110 meter hurdles in 15.00. Nehemiah Burney-Porter (jr. Scotch Plains, NJ/Scotch Plains-Fanwood) was the winner in the triple jump with a distance of 42’ 1.5” (12.84 meters).

In the 5000 meters, Greg Kuczynski (sr. Sayreville, NJ/Sayreville War Mem.), Dan Ratty (sro. Tenafly, NJ/Tenafly) and Jeff Terebey (so. Shamong, NJ/Seneca) came in first (15:50.56), second (16:12.90) and third (16:29.06) respectively. Daniel Collier (jr. Cinnaminson, NJ/Cinnaminson) took second place in the 800 meters with a time of 2:00.04. Mike Rivera (sr. Old Tappan, NJ/Northern Valley Old Tappan) was second in the 1500 meters (4:09.74). Ben Bradley (so. Parsippany, NJ/Parsippany Hills) placed second in the 400 meter hurdles (58.26).

Sean Corey (jr. Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill E.) and Matt Tholis (fr. Montgomery, NJ/Montgomery) were second (189’ 2”, 57.67 meters) and third (176’ 2”, 53.70 meters) respectively in the javelin. Corey’s throw was a NCAA provisional. Kyle Hayes (so. Pt. Pleasant, NJ/Pt. Pleasant Boro) captured second place in the long jump with a distance of 21’ 8.25” (6.61 meters). Jason Yanchuck (jr. Somerset, NJ/Franklin) had a second place in the shot put with 44’ 8.75” (13.63 meters). Steve Hague (so. Vineland, NJ/Buena Reg.) claimed second in the discus with a throw of 133’ 11” (40.81 meters).

Brian Makinson (so. Cinnamsinson, NJ/Cinnaminson) came in third in the high jump with 5’10” (1.77 meters). Mike Ward (so. Egg Harbor Twp., NJ/Egg Harbor Twp.) was third in the pole vault with a height of 10’ 6” (3.20 meters). Antonio Tronco (sr. Absecon, NJ/Holy Spirit) was third in the hammer throw with 94’ 11” (28.93 meters).

The 4x100 meter relay of Hayes, Gauntt, Burney-Porter and Jayce Maxwell (fr. Toms River, NJ/Monsignor Donovan) captured second place (43.40). The women’s 4x100 meter relay took second (51.03) with Heidi DeGuzman (fr. Central Islip, NY/Pennsauken), Tamara Jones (so. Camden, NJ/Woodrow Wilson), Amirah Muneer (fr. Ewing, NJ/Ewing) and Dannielle Warren (sr. Woodbury, NJ/Woodbury).

In the women’s 800 meters, Lisa Jones (jr. Mays Landing, NJ/Oakcrest) finished second (2:25.61) followed by Eileen O’Mara (fr. Haddonfield, NJ/Haddon Twp.) third (2:27.66) and Lori Oglesby (fr. Williamstown, NJ/Buena Reg.) fourth (2:30.15). Jones also won the 1500 meters with a time of 5:01.59. Jena Peacock (fr. Williamstown, NJ/Our Lady of Mercy) took second in the 5000 meters (19:31.61) and Angela Patane (sr. Monroeville, NJ/Delsea Reg.) was third (19:37.36).

Rosalee Johnson (fr. Willingboro, NJ/Holy Cross) took first in the high jump with 4’ 10” (1.47 meters). She had second places in the 100 meter hurdles (16.54) and 400 meter hurdles (1:11.71). Michelle Forrester (fr. Livingston, NJ/Livingston) was first in the triple jump with 31’ 4.5” (9.56 meters) and second in the high jump with 4’ 10”. (1.47 meters). Jenna Frederico (fr. Blenheim, NJ/Triton Reg.) was the winner in the pole vault with 9’ (2.74 meters). Tempeste Johnson (fr. Burlington, NJ/Burlington Twp.) won the discus with 103’ 1” (31.41 meters).

In the javelin, Rachel Pantaleo (fr. Glenwood, NJ/Vernon Twp.) was first with 115’ 7” (35.22 meters) and Laura Idell (fr. Waterford, NJ/St. Joseph ) followed in second with 109’ 8” (33.42 meters). Heather Carbone (so. Toms River, NJ/Monsignor Donovan) finished third in the 400 meter hurdles (1:12.16). Muneer came in third place in the 200 meter dash in 26.60. She also took fourth in the 400 meters (59.89).

Rowan travels to the College Track Conference (CTC) Championships on Saturday-Sunday, April 18-19. The meet will be held at Richard Stockton College and begins at 2 p.m. on Saturday and 11 a.m. on Sunday.
