Rowan Competes on Second Day of Wake Forest Open

WINSTON-SALEM, NC – The Rowan University men’s and women’s track and field teams competed on the second day of the Wake Forest Open on Saturday.

Kyle Hayes (so. Pt. Pleasant, NJ/Pt. Pleasant Boro) finished fifth in the long jump with a distance of 22’ 6.5” (6.87 meters). Kevin Gauntt (jr. Marlton, NJ/Seneca) came in fifth in the 110 meter hurdles in 15.12. He qualified for the finals with a time of 15.48 in the prelims.

Greg Kuczynski (sr. Sayreville, NJSayreville War Mem.) was 16th in the 3000 meters (8:58.73). Steve Hague (so. Vineland, NJ/Buena Reg.) took 19th in the discus with a toss of 133’ 8” (40.74 meters).

Heidi DeGuzman (fr. Central Islip, NY/Pennsauken) finished 14th in the 100 meter dash (12.79). She had a time of 12.58 in the prelims to advance to the finals. Rosalee Johnson (fr. Willingboro, NJ/Holy Cross) tied for 12th in the high jump “B”. Johnson jumped 4’ 8.25” (1.43 meters). Laura Idell had a 17th place in the javelin with 110’ 11” (33.82 meters).

Danielle Czhola (fr. Lafayette, NJ/High Point Reg.) was 21st in the 3000 meters (11:06.64) and Eileen O’Mara (fr. Haddonfield, NJ/Haddon Twp.) followed 23rd (11:07.86).

Next week, Rowan travels to the Towson University Invitational on Saturday, March 28 at 10:30 a.m.
