NFHCA Senior All-Star Team
GLASSBORO, NJ – Rowan University field hockey player Jenna Lombardo was selected for the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Senior All-Star Game. This year’s game will be played at Mount Holyoke College in South Hadley, MA on Sunday, November 22 at 9:30 a.m.
A midfielder, Lombardo (sr. Barnegat, NJ/Southern Reg.) is a starter for the Profs and a team captain. This season, she has contributed with eight points, one goal and six assists. Lombardo has a career total of 12 points (two goals, eight assists).
“Jenna is highly deserving of this honor,” stated head coach Penny Kempf. “She is an inspirational player to her teammates. Jenna makes everyone around her want to work hard, give 100 percent and be a better person. She is a constant source of encouragement to the team and coaching staff. She is a pleasure to be around and has a positive effect with whomever she comes in contact with.”
Lombardo was named to the NFHCA Division III National Academic Squad the past two seasons. She earned New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) All-Academic honorable mention twice and was chosen for the 2009 Rowan Prof Award. The award is given to a male and female athlete that exemplify the meaning of the ROWAN tradition through Responsibility, Ownership, Winning, Accountability and No excuses. A health and exercise science major, Lombardo is also a Rowan Scholar-Athlete.
Rowan has an overall record of 14-4. The Profs won the NJAC Championship and they receive an automatic bid to the 2009 NCAA Division III Championship Tournament. The national tournament starts on Wednesday, November 11 with the first round. The second and third round games will be held on Saturday and Sunday, November 14-15 respectively. Mount Holyoke College will host the semifinals on Saturday, November 21 and the final on Sunday, November 22.
