Longstreth/NFHCA Division III All-America Team
GLASSBORO, NJ – Three Rowan University field hockey players received Longstreth/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division III All-American honors.
Back Kacey Ehret (sr. Collingswood, NJ/Collingswood) was named to the All-America first team. Midfielder Jenna Lombardo (sr. Barnegat, NJ/Southern Reg.) and forward Lauren Ross (jr. Gloucester City, NJ/Gloucester) earned second team honors. All three players moved to the national ballot after being selected to the Longstreth/NFHCA Division III South Atlantic All-Region first team.
A team co-captain, Ehret was the Profs’ defensive leader. Rowan held its opponents to 25 goals in 19 games for a 1.30 goals against average. The Profs are ranked 13th in shutouts per game (0.37), and 25th in goals against average (1.3) in the latest NCAA statistics (Nov. 15). In the conference, Ehret tied for for 11th in defender saves (2). She was chosen the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Defensive Player of the Year and to the All-Conference first team.
Lombardo was also a captain. She recorded eight points with one goal and six assists. Lombardo tied for third in the NJAC in assists (6) and tied for fourth in assists per game (0.33). She played in the NFHCA Senior All-Star Game on November 22 at the NCAA Division III Championship, which was held at Mount Holyoke College. Lombardo collected NJAC Midfielder of the Year honors and was named to the All-Conference first team.
Ross was the Profs’ leading scorer with 38 points. She registered a team-high 18 goals, including four game-winners, and two assists. In the latest NCAA statistics (Nov. 15), Ross was 27th in goals per game (0.95) and 39th in points per game (2.0). She tied for first in the conference in goals (18) and tied for third in game-winning goals (4). Ross ranked third in points (38), points per game (2.0) and goals per game (0.95). She was selected the NJAC Attack Player of the Year and earned All-Conference first team honors.
Rowan finished the season with a 14-5 record. The Profs won the NJAC Championship and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament.
