NJAC Women's Cross Country All-Conference Team
GLASSBORO, NJ – The Rowan University men’s and women’s cross country teams had seven runners earn New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) All-Conference honors at the conference championships on Saturday, October 31.
Jena Peacock (so. Williamstown, NJ/Our Lady of Mercy Academy) was the NJAC Women’s Cross Country Runner of the Year, while Joy Hanke (fr. West Long Branch, NJ/Shore Reg.) was named the Rookie of the Year. Head coach Derick “Ringo” Adamson was selected the women’s Coach of the Year. Stephen Mennitt (fr. Edison, NJ/Edison) earned NJAC Men’s Cross Country Rookie of the Year.
The All-Conference selections are based on performances at the NJAC Championships, which were hosted by Richard Stockton College in Pomona, NJ. Peacock took first place overall at the meet with a time of 22:03.90 over the 6K course for All-Conference first team honors. It marked the second straight year she was chosen to the All-Conference first team. Hanke came in ninth place (24:24.80) and was named to the All-Conference second team. Michelle Esten (so. Brick, NJ/Brick Mem.) and Eileen O’Mara (so. Haddonfield, NJ/Haddon Twp.) were 11th (24:46.10) and 14th (25:01.02) respectively. Both student-athletes were second team selections. O’Mara collected All-Conference second team honors in 2008.
For the men, Mennitt was the first Prof to cross the finish line with a time of 26:59.60 over the 8K course. Eric DuBois (so. Pittsgrove, NJ/A.P. Schalick) captured seventh (27:06.52) to join Mennitt on the All-Conference first team. Jake McCormack (so. Cliffwood, NJ/Matawan Reg.) earned All-Conference second team honors after taking eighth place in 27:18.46.
The men’s and women’s cross country teams will compete at the NCAA Division III Atlantic Regionals on Saturday, November 14 at 11 a.m. The meet is being hosted by SUNY Geneseo in Geneseo, NY.
