GLASSBORO, NJ – The Rowan University women’s volleyball team has qualified for the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Championship Tournament. The fifth seed Profs will travel to the fourth seed William Paterson University in the first round of play on Tuesday, November 3 at 7 p.m.
In other first round action, the third seed Ramapo College (21-7) hosts the sixth seed Rutgers-Camden (11-13). Montclair State University and Richard Stockton College are the top seeds and get a bye in the first round. The Red Hawks secured the first seed with an overall record of 13-11 and an 8-0 conference mark. Richard Stockton (23-11), the defending champion, is the second seed.
This is Rowan’s 13th appearance in the NJAC Championship Tournament and its third straight. The Profs advance to the tournament with an overall record of 12-16 and a 4-4 conference mark. During the regular season, William Paterson (19-7) defeated Rowan, 3-1 in Wayne, NJ. The set scores were 25-22, 22-25, 25-21 and 25-21. The Profs have won six NJAC conference titles with the most recent in 2004. Rowan also won in 2002, 1987, 1986, 1985 and 1984.
The NJAC tournament continues with the semifinals scheduled for Thursday, November 5 and the championship on Saturday, November 7. The conference champion receives an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament.
