POMONA, NJ – The Rowan University women’s cross country team won the Collegiate Track Conference Championships on Saturday and the men took second place. The championships were held at Richard Stockton College.
Jenn Rawls (fr. Runnemede, NJ/Highland Reg.) was the women’s individual winner with a time of 21:53.58 on the 6K course. Jena Peacock (so. Williamstown, NJ/Our Lady of Mercy Academy) followed in second place (21:56.61). Joy Hanke (fr. Cranford, NJ/Cranford) finished fourth (24:06.77). Eileen O’Mara (so. Haddonfield, NJ/Haddon Twp.) came in seventh (24:20.20) and Liz Guarini (jr. Steinertville, NJ/Steinert) was 11th (24:41.16).
For the men, Jake McCormick (so. Cliffwood, NJ/Matawan Reg.) came in fifth with a time of 26:35.72 over the 8K course. Stephen Mennitt (fr. Edison, NJ/Edison) took seventh place (26:38.79). Eric DuBois (so. Pittsgrove, NJ/A.P/ Schalick) and Brian Quilty (jr. Brick, NJ/Saint Rose) were 13th (27:05.86) and 15th (27:11.22) respectively. Also scoring was Jeff Terebey (jr. Shamong, NJ/Seneca) who was 29th (27:45.50).
Rowan is off next week before the New Jersey Athletic Conference Championships that will be held on Saturday, October 31 at Richard Stockton College. The first race starts at 10:30 a.m.
