EWING, NJ – The College of New Jersey men’s soccer team blanked visiting Rowan University, 3-0 in a New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) game on Wednesday evening.
The Lions improve to 6-3-1 overall and 2-0 in the conference. The Profs have a 3-5 overall record and a 0-2 NJAC mark.
Forward Kevin Luber (jr. Delran, NJ/Delran) scored two goals in the first half to give TCNJ a 2-0 halftime advantage. His first goal came on a penalty kick at 21:27. He found the net at 34:22 on a shot over Rowan goalkeeper Joel Sanger’s (jr. Mullica Hill, NJ/Kingsway Reg.) head. Luber added a goal at 71:43 in the second period to complete the hat trick. Forwards Chris Nelan (sr. Haddon Heights, NJ/Haddon Heights) and Ray Nelan (fr. Haddon Heights, NJ/Haddon Heights) each picked up an assist.
The Profs out shot the Lions, 16-14. Goalkeeper Eric Goldwaser (so. Wyckoff, NJ/Indian Hills) made seven saves for his fourth shutout. Sanger stopped six shots in Rowan’s net.
Rowan hosts William Paterson University in a conference game on Saturday, September 27 at 7 p.m. TCNJ is at NJAC opponent Montclair State University on Saturday at 7 p.m.
