PHILADELPHIA, PA – The Rowan University men’s and women’s outdoor track and field teams participated at the University of Pennsylvania Invitational on Saturday.
Sean Corey (so. Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill E.) won the javelin with 195’ 6” (59.60 meters). His throw was better than the NCAA provisional of 188’ (57.30 meters). Corey recorded a NCAA automatic qualifier at the Wake Forest Open (Mar. 21) with 214’ 6.5” (65.39 meters).
Kyle Hayes (fr. Pt. Pleasant, NJ/Pt. Pleasant Boro) came in sixth in the long jump with a leap of 22’ 8” (6.91 meters). Hayes also finished 14th in the 100 meters with a time of 11.37. Stephen Hague (fr. Vineland, NJ/Buena Reg.) was seventh in the discus with a toss of 131’ 7” (40.11 meters).
Kevin Gauntt (so. Delanco, NJ/Seneca) took eighth place in the 110 meter hurdles (15.60) and Nehemiah Burney-Porter (so. Scotch Plains, NJ/Scotch Plains-Fanwood) was 12th (15.82). John Fessler (fr. Rancocas, NJ/Rancocas Valley Reg.) came in 18th in the 3000 meter steeplechase (10:45.37).
On the women’s side, Michelle Lala (so. Wayne, NJ/Wayne Hills) tied for third in the high jump. Lala had a height of 5’ 1.75” (1.57 meters). Dannielle Warren (jr. Woodbury, NJ/Woodbury) tied for 13th place in the long jump with 17’ 2.75” (5.25 meters). Warren also came in 25th in the 400 meter hurdles (1:10.32). In the 5,000 meters, Katelyn Sammon (sr. Maplewood, NJ/Columbia) finished 21st with a time of 20:20.72.
Next week, the Profs are hosting the Rowan Open on Friday, April 11 at 2 p.m.
