GLASSBORO, NJ – The Rowan University field hockey team blanked visiting Susquehanna University, 8-0 on Wednesday evening. The Profs, ranked 10th in the nation, had seven different players that contributed in the scoring.

Rowan was led by forward Amanda Greene (sr. Thorofare, NJ/Gloucester) with two goals. Back Jen Lipnickey (sr. Chester, NJ/West Morris-Mendham) had one goal and one assist. Forwards Lauren Ross (so. Gloucester City, NJ/Gloucester) and Katelynn Hughes (jr. Rosenhayn, NJ/Cumberland Reg.), midfielders Julie Cairone (fr. Medford, NJ/Shawnee) and Rachael Dix (fr. Egg Harbor Twp., NJ/Egg Harbor) and back Kelly Angstadt (sr. Sewell, NJ/Washington Twp.) all scored one goal.

Rowan has an overall record of 9-3 while Susquehanna drops to 6-8 on the season. Goalies Lisa Apt (fr. Mays Landing, NJ/Oakcrest) and Brittney Galloway (fr. Woodbury Heights, NJ/Gateway Reg.) each played a half in the Profs’ net. For the Crusaders, goalie Erin Ferguson (fr. Mt. Laurel, NJ/Seneca) made five saves in the first 43:22 of the contest. Goalie Natasha Eisenhart (so. Gordon, PA/Conrad Weiser) played the remainder of the game and stopped four shots.

The Profs were ahead 4-0 after the first half. Greene started the scoring at 9:12 and Angstadt hit the net on a penalty stroke at 12:24. Hughes (23:24) and Cairone (32:58) each had a goal to end the period.

Greene’s second goal came on a penalty corner at 40:14 with a pass from Lipnickey. Two minutes later Lipnickey scored the Profs’ sixth goal. Ross had a breakaway and shot the ball into the cage at 46:44. Dix knocked in a pass at 55:20 from forward Katie Scanlon (fr. Cherry Hill, NJ/Camden Catholic) on a penalty corner.

Rowan has the weekend off before traveling to Catholic University on Thursday, October 23 at 4:30 p.m.
