 Diane Giebel Nuess swam for the Profs for two seasons, 1973 to 1975, coming to Glassboro State after competing at the Olympics while in high school.
 
At the EAIAW Championships in 1974, she was a member of the Profs’ 200 freestyle relay that earned first place and on the 200 medley relay that came in second. Giebel Nuess helped Glassboro State finish 11th in the 200 freestyle relay.

Prior to college, she finished sixth in the 200 butterfly at the 1968 Mexico Olympics, clocking a 2:31.70, after posting a win in her heat. In 1968 she was ranked fourth in the world for the 200 butterfly and sixth in the 100 butterfly.
 
Giebel Nuess, who graduated in 1975 and then received her master’s degree in 1992 from Gonzaga University, was inducted into the South Jersey Swimming Hall of Fame.
